Full tear-off of 30-year-old 3-tab shingles, deck repair (two sheets of rotted OSB), ice-and-water shield, Malarkey Vista AR architectural shingles in Midnight Black, new ridge vent, step flashing at two wall transitions.
This Newport Hills colonial had its original 3-tab shingles from 1994, well past their expected lifespan. During tear-off, we discovered two areas of rotted deck sheathing caused by inadequate attic ventilation. We replaced the damaged decking, added proper ridge venting, and installed Malarkey Vista AR shingles with a 40-year warranty. The homeowner specifically chose Midnight Black to complement the home’s white trim and dark blue siding.
