Cedar Shake Roof: Wallingford Bungalow

This 1925 Wallingford bungalow is in a neighborhood filled with character homes, and the homeowner was determined to maintain the authentic cedar shake look. We carefully removed the old shakes, repaired soft spots in the original skip sheathing, and installed new #1 hand-split cedar shakes over cedar breather underlayment. The dormer flashings were completely rebuilt with step and counter-flashing for a watertight seal. The new cedar roof will weather to a beautiful silver-grey over the coming years, just as it should on a home of this era.
